My name is Kate Rodgers and I am very excited to be with my Dobson Family again this year.
This will be my thirteenth school year as a Philadelphia educator. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education from La Salle University in 2006 and I spent nearly a decade in the classroom teaching various classes of 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Math, Social Studies, and Project Based Learning. After three years of teaching, I made the commitment to go back to school to further my abilities to help kids. In 2012, I earned my first Master's Degree in School Counseling at Arcadia University and have loved being a school counselor for the past three years. As someone who is always working to be a better educator I decided to continue my education and completed my second Master's in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University in 2019.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy learning and always think of myself as a student. I have participated in educator conferences and professional developments that centered on topics such as: Teacher Leadership, student motivation, the Battle of Gettysburg, the War of 1812, social emotional learning, restorative practice, and integrating critical reading and writing skills in the classroom.
In my free time, I enjoy going to zoos, aquariums, and museums, rooting for my sports teams (Go Phillies! LaSalle! & Jets!), exploring Philadelphia, and spending time with my family and friends. My husband Tom and I welcomed our first children, twin girls, in December of 2014 and add my son to our family in June of 2018. We are also proud parents to our nine year old pit/boxer mix, Luke. I look forward to serving alongside the wonderful Dobson staff to support your student and family.
